Central Desert is seeking a Heritage Support Officer to join the Heritage and Culture team, working on the coordintation of heritage surveys for client.

The role has flexible options and can be full time (37.5 hrs/week) or part time (min 30 hrs/week), but must be available to work Mondays and Fridays. The position is based in our East Perth office.

Central Desert Native Title Services Ltd (Central Desert) works in partnership with the Aboriginal people of the central desert region of Western Australia as they shape a self-determined future of independence, control and connection to Country, Culture and Community.

Central Desert provides a range of services including culture and heritage who are responsible for ensuring that heritage survey activities, undertaken pursuant to relevant Agreements entered into by Central Desert’s clients, are completed safely, professionally and in a timely manner.

The Role

The Heritage Support Officer provides the team with an administrative support function, including managing the mail in-box, updating heritage databases, managing and updating information in MYOB, preparing payment requests, assisting with logistics, taking minutes, maintaining a planning calendar and managing the iManage filing system.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

1. Previous experience working in an administrative, receptionist or similar support role.

2. Strong experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

3. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

4. Strong written and verbal communications skills along with interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of different team members, traditional owners and other stakeholders.

5. High attention to detail and accuracy skills.

6. Experience or interest in working directly with Aboriginal people, and with a high level of cultural competence.

7. Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
