The Department of Planning Lands and Heritage (DPLH) intends to undertake public consultation on an Exposure Draft of the Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Amendment Bill 2026.

Consultation is anticipated to commence in August 2026, subject to finalisation and publication of the Exposure Draft.
To support consultation, the Department proposes to host a series of regional consultation sessions. 
These sessions will provide an overview of the proposed reforms, explain the policy intent of the Exposure Draft, answer questions and support stakeholders to provide informed feedback.
