Graduate Lawyer/Lawyer/Senior Lawyer

We are seeking applications for Graduate Lawyers/Lawyer/Senior Lawyers to join our team in a full time or part time capacity.

In this role, you will provide legal advice to native title claimants and Prescribed Bodies Corporate in relation to general native title matters, heritage, mining matters, land tenure and acquisition, compensation claims and corporate governance matters.  

You will be based in our East Perth Office, and (depending on the role) travel to regional and remote WA. You will have the opportunity to see parts of the outback Australia and meet some of its many characters.

Essential /Desirable Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • appropriate legal qualifications;
  • experience in relating to and receiving instructions from Aboriginal people;
  • excellent written, inter-personal and facilitation skills;
  • high-level time management and organisational skills;
  • proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team;
  • an ability to travel to remote locations on a regular basis; and
  • a current driver’s licence (manual preferred), preferably with 4WD experience.

Anthropologist

We are seeking an Anthropologist to join our Heritage, People and Culture Team.  You will be assisting to provide guidance, and advice to the Research and Legal staff.  You will also be required to conduct efficient and effective anthropological research and produce accurate anthropological materials as required.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal People or demonstrated capacity to quickly develop that ability;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • high-level time management and organisational skills;
  • demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction;
  • ability to engage effectively in multi-disciplinary teams;
  • a demonstrated commitment to teamwork;
  • competence in the use of Microsoft Office applications (including Teams).

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Anthropology or the like.
  • Familiarity with the Native title Act 1993 (Cth) and other relevant cultural heritage legislation.
  • An understanding of the cultural, social, economic and political issues affecting Aboriginal People generally and native title issues in particular.

Lawyers wishing to place themselves on our Consultant Register are to complete the Consultant EoI form and attach this and their Resume to the ‘Application Form’ template below.
