Senior Lawyer

Central Desert Native Title Services Ltd (Central Desert) is committed to achieving the best native title outcomes for the traditional owners of the Central Desert region of Western Australia. We assist our clients to use their traditional lands to fulfil their highest social, cultural and economic aspirations. We are seeking applications for a Senior Lawyer with at least 5 years post admission experience to join our team. In this role, you will provide high level legal advice and representation to native title claimants and Prescribed Bodies Corporate in relation to general native title matters, heritage, mining matters, land tenure and acquisition, compensation claims and corporate governance matters. You will also assist the Principal Lawyer and provide mentorship and supervision to members within the legal team. The successful person will have:- appropriate legal qualifications and a minimum of five years post admission experience;
- experience in relating to and receiving instructions from Aboriginal people;
- excellent written, inter-personal and facilitation skills;
- high-level time management and organisational skills;
- proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team;
- proven ability to coach and mentor less senior team members;
- an ability to travel to remote locations on a regular basis; and
- a current manual drivers licence, preferably with 4WD experience.
